MAHA moms are about to ruin RFK Jr.’s life
Picking peptides over pesticide is gonna cost them big time in the midterms

I immediately regretted it when I typed “what is a peptide” into Google.
A couple times a year I get dispatches from home about friends (or friends of friends) who are messing around with some off-label, understudied, fountain-of-youth, woo-woo wellness bullshit. The City of Angels seems to conjure cosmetic and therapeutic breakthroughs at a clip unmatched by any other city.
Once unearthed, Angelenos reach the “adoption” phase before medical professionals have even finished the “experiment” one. Which is how I ended up embarking on a search for knowledge about peptides a few months ago: Someone reported to me that the streets were saying Ozempic had shrunk itself into irrelevance, leaving a void that only another injectable could fill.
However intrepid I felt when I hit search was simply not intrepid enough. It’s 2026 and this is an internet trend, so naturally the looksmaxxer Clavicular (a peptide user himself) stands between you and any knowledge that you seek. Beyond him is a world of podcast pitches, how-to guides, influencer discount codes, “grey market” foreign providers, very few clinical studies, and more injection videos than I ever needed to see in one lifetime.
The difference between a cosmetic micro-fad gate kept by Hollywood nepo babies and a nationwide movement of wellness influencers promoting pseudoscience … is one person: Joe Rogan. He hosted RFK Jr. on his Feb. 27 podcast. They talked about peptides for four minutes. This week, I’m seeing article after article about the peptide wellness “boom.”
The news: He’s pushing the FDA to reconsider restrictions on 14 of 19 peptide injection types. He and peptide fans claim they do anything from heal injuries to burn fat, make skin glow, improve cognitive function, and more.
The motivator: He’s been in the deepest of shit lately — sidelined by the White House, unable to deliver on a majority of the priorities he touted to the 2024 base. (The ideal time to launch a podcast, as we all know.)
The problem: The MAHA coalition has always been a castle made of sand. He just fortified the wrong tower. And the crunchy non-toxic MAHA moms — the ones he owes his current position to — are taking note.
What the “peptides v. pesticides” matchup looks like online, and how MAHA’s social media organizing could spell doom for MAGA in November … all below!

IMMUNIZATION BREAKDOWN
Here’s my diagnosis — and maybe because I’m not a licensed medical professional, RFK Jr. will take heed: He has more to lose than basically anybody in the Trump administration. The clingy web stretched out under those who fall from the MAGA grace does not catch politically homeless people like him.
So, right now, he’s thrashing about like an animal without its full power, but unwilling to give up. This likely means his next step is being shoved in the back of his own car and dumped in Central Park. Do unto bears what you would have done unto you. He hasn’t tasted a widespread win since the reduction of the childhood vaccine schedule in January. Since:
A federal judge blocked that decision
His surgeon general pick remains unconfirmed
An executive order boosted MAHA’s chemical enemy #1
The NIH got exposed to still be funding maximum pain experiments on beagles
Trump’s new CDC pick is not an anti-vaxxer
Not to mention the constant flow of weird sex and animal stuff
What does a basketball player do when the shots (no pun intended) aren’t falling? Get to the line. A free throw still counts when you just need to see the ball go in.
THE PEPTIDE IS HIGH
Creators that dominate the wellness world are, for the most part, absolutely fucking shameless. Whatever the new trend is, they’ll buy it, rebrand it, and sell it themselves. And this happens at all levels — from supplement MLMs for the middle class to billionaire-backed biohackers trying to outrun death.
When Biden’s FDA restricted compound pharmacies from pumping out the peptides we’re talking about, it created “a grey market.” The peptide pipeline opened — importing compounds or “stacks” of potentially contaminated peptides of unknown dosage and purity. Many bottles come with labels that say “not for human use.” Syringes sold separately.
To me? Tough sell! Though, I famously didn’t get my ears pierced ‘til 23 because needles and I do not see eye to eye. But the road from “I don’t put anything I can’t pronounce in my body” to “come with me as I experiment with grey market Chinese peptides” is short and paved with Instagram posts. Here’s what I found:
🚹 male-dominated — With GLP-1s (another form of peptide), the lion’s share of content I see is from, or at least marketed toward, women. These peptides, like the super popular BPC-157, are concentrated among men tapping into the growing market of male optimization.
Evangelists include: Andrew Huberman, Joe Rogan, doctors with big YouTube followings
📩 free medical advice — Creators in this space are eager to show their findings and make recommendations to anyone who will listen. So many posts end in “Comment GLOW UP” for a step-by-step guide. No, none of them are doctors.
Example 1: @adriannelentine — notes she spent “a lot of time researching” because she’s “careful” about what she puts in her body … “comment PEP” to get access to her provider | 331 likes, 1,062 comments
Example 2: @annadoingthings_ — almost died using peptides seven years ago but … “Comment PEPTIDE GUIDE” to see her picks of the 25 she’s tried
💰 audience leverage — There’s a hefty surcharge added for products from influencers with the largest followings and most capital. Very sus peptides can run $20 a vial. Wellness titan Gary Brecka (not a Dr.) charges up to $300 for his compounds.
So you’re probably wondering, well … does it work? We don’t really know. Almost all of the studies done have been on animals. I saw one study on humans mentioned in all of my research — and that’s just one peptide tested on just 16 people. Limited research leads to product descriptions like this:
That’s more than enough info for our HSS director, who is a peptide user himself. There’s a lot of money in the longevity game — both as a scam and a legitimate scientific commitment. But focusing on the ultra-long game will not treat the symptoms he’s experiencing today.
FOREVER CHEMICAL IMBALANCE
It’s never been more clear to me how much trouble he’s in than when I browsed the Instagram profiles of the founding mothers of MAHA. The word “betrayal” comes up a lot. The word “peptide,” barely at all. Another “P” word represents their crusade: pesticide.
Toxins and chemicals remain enemy #1 for this content crew — this has not changed since 2024 when they — some reluctantly — signed on to vote for Donald Trump. They were the last to know just how short of a short-term alliance this would be. Until February. Trump signed an executive order designating the chemical glyphosate as a cornerstone of farming.
Who to know: Alex Clark, Host of “Culture Apothecary”
This is whose account you pull up when you want to take the temperature on MAHA. In March, she shared a link about health conscious voters rejecting Republicans in the midterms, adding:
“the reality is the chemical problem matters much more to MAHA moms than the GOP realizes.”
Saying it out loud works! Trump invited the gang for a gab in the Oval last week. Clark and some, but not all, of the other women wrote captions of gratitude for hearing them out on the issues that matter most: “pesticides and infertility,” “food systems and health care,” and “toxic exposures in our food and water system.” The comment sections were rather displeased. (Notice no peptides mentioned.)
