Before we put our hard hats on, I’ve got a special something for all the New Yorkers reading this: The Recount is hosting a trivia night at the only place I would ever pay to be a member of in this godless city, The Bench! Wednesday, Oct. 29th, RSVP and I’ll see ya there.

Ty Pennington, if you’d like to weigh in …

I couldn’t stop thinking about the Black Keys song “Gold on the Ceiling” when Trump showcased ballroom renderings fresh from the art printer formerly known as Kinko’s. In my well-trained eye, the floor-to-ceiling gold risks shining in more of a Saddam Hussein way than a Louis XIV way. Gild with caution.

The evisceration of the East Wing has caused more uproar than anything, largely because of a deceptively framed soundbite from Karoline Leavitt’s press briefing. Her comment that the ballroom is the president’s “main priority” served as perfect fodder for moment-starved Dems to brand as this week’s cause célèbre.

For a group of people who are so forensically precise on all things optics — obviously not talking about Democrats anymore — the administration’s cavalier attitude toward the destruction of the most famous building in America is interesting to me.

Maybe they figure while they’ve got all this construction equipment around, might as well put it to good use. Let’s loan it out to whoever feels like driving a backhoe over the latest member of the press corps to piss them off. That’s really the only way I can describe Leavitt’s self-published interaction with a reporter, capped off with a “Your Mom” joke. I guess we just found out what it looks like if demolition derby and WWE “SmackDown” had a baby.

BALL REALLY IS LIFE

This is a football country. C’mon, even I admit that. But this week, all our political players went to bed and had some hoop dreams.
